This year’s conference features a dual strand of a day-long workshop and a series of presentations centered
on cultural and linguistic issues. The overarching theme is ““You can take the language out of the culture, but
you can’t take the culture out of the language: Communication with Cultural Relevance.” The theme of the workshop,
given by the popular presenter Peggy Boyles, is “Integrating Culture into Classroom Instruction”. Teachers will see relevant, hands-on activities which can be implemented immediately
in their classroom on the Monday morning.
The second strand is a series of presentations given by AATSP members in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. For the first
time, our state conference will have sessions in Portuguese! This strand focuses on topics of culture, literature, and
linguistics – all of which impact cultural knowledge.
Join us September 24th on the UGA campus for an intellectual treat!
