Professional Involvement
Annual Fall Conference
AATSP-GA offers a fall conference for its members each year. This is a day well spent amongst other professionals with presentations made by successful and enthusiastic teachers in the field and noted speakers.
Watch for our flyer highlighting this conference in your FLAG bag and journal each spring and for more information to be announced on this website as it becomes available each fall. Click here for conference information.
Professional Recognition
Members of AATSP-GA may nominate or may be nominated for teacher of the year recognition at elementary, middle school and high school levels. University level educators may also nominate and may be nominated for professor of the year recognition. State awardees will also be nominated for recognition through AATSP national. Click here for nomination guidelines.
Teacher Mini Grants
AATSP-GA, when funds are available, also offers two mini grants for teachers, one for new teachers in years 1-3, and one for veteran teachers. Stay tuned for information on these opportunities. Click here for application information.

Travel Study Award

The Georgia Chapter offers an award of $500 to reimburse out-of-pocket expenses incurred during study abroad programs in Spanish or Portuguese-speaking countries. The award is given in loving memory of Raúl Fernández, a long time foreign language educator and advocate, and member of AATSP Georgia Chapter Executive Board, who was a vital force in creating the activities, awards, and opportunities that we offer our membership today. Following Raúl's passing in December 2008, this award, formerly given in memory of Julia Fernández, Raúl's mother, has been offered annually in his memory. Candidates must have been a member of AATSP-GA for two consecutive years prior to applying for the scholarship, and must be a Georgia educator returning to the classroom the following school year to teach either Spanish or Portuguese.
